How to Buy

Small Works, Great Wonders is just around the corner and the sale is going to look a little different this year.

Ballots and ballot boxes have been replaced by an app or concierge service and placards will be replaced by “sold” stickers.

There are three easy ways to purchase pieces from Small Works, Great Wonders

  1. Download our Western Heritage app for iPhone or iPad and submit ballots. The app can be used remotely or at the sale. Click here for app instructions.
  2. If attending in person and not using the Western Heritage app, please visit our concierge table to place your ballots by 7:00 p.m.
  3. If unable to attend or to use the app the Museum offers proxy service, please fill out and submit the proxy form (must be received by 7:00 p.m. November 12). How to Download the App

  1. Visit the Apple App Store, search “Western Heritage” and download the app by that title from True Oil, LLC. The app is ONLY AVAILABLE FOR iPhone or iPad.
  2. Once downloaded, open the Western Heritage app and proceed with the registration process by clicking on “register.” You’ll be prompted to submit contact information and create a username and password. A verification email will be sent to the address provided once registration has been successfully completed.
  3. Use your username and password to log in. Once logged in, you will be asked for a show code. The show code will be provided to all registrants. If you have not registered to participate in the sale, please click here.
  4. After logging in, you may receive a prompt informing you of the amount of data the app needs to download. Press “ok” to begin the download. Depending on the device, this could take a moment. IMPORTANT: Do not leave the app or let the device go to sleep during this synchronization. Please note this is a one-time synchronization and will not occur again.
  5. Once these steps have been completed, you may begin to view art and place a ballot(s) for the pieces in which you are interested.

Rules of Sale

Participants in the sale have until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 12 to place their ballots utilizing the Western Heritage app, through the concierge service or by proxy. You may also submit a proxy form by visiting

At 7:00 p.m. all ballots will be processed. The first name selected will have 20 minutes to confirm the purchase. Once the sale is confirmed, the seller will confirm the sale with a “sold” sticker.

If the first individual has not claimed the piece during the initial 20-minute period, the second name is eligible to purchase the art for the next 20 minutes.

At approximately 7:40 p.m., unsold art is available to purchase on a first-come, first-served basis.

Paying for Your Purchase

All art purchases require payment in full the night of the sale. Only the person whose name is posted can pay for the art. Paying for someone else’s art is not allowed.

Forms of Payment
Checks are to be made to National Cowboy Museum. Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards are also accepted. However, buyers choosing to pay by credit card will incur a fee on their total invoice of 3%.

Due to changes in the law regarding sales tax, Oklahoma state and local sales tax (8.625%) will be added to all purchases regardless of shipment destination or purchaser’s state of residence. Tax exemptions will be verified, and buyers must present proof of exemption at the time of purchase.

After the Sale

Unsold art will remain on exhibit and available for purchase through online catalog or The Museum Store until November 28.

Purchased Artwork Pick Up

Purchasers may leave with art in hand at the end of the night. Arrangements to pick up artwork or have it shipped can be made by contacting Special Exhibits Shipping Coordinator Derek Marzolf, (405) 838-1953, in advance.
